To say that this shoot started a little rocky would be a bit of an understatement! This little sweetie had missed her nap, so photos were the last thing she wanted to do. She wouldn’t even look at me for about the first 30 minutes. Luckily, I have a toddler…..I don’t break easily. And by the last 10 minutes of her shoot, she really warmed up to me! ;)

a + d wedding

Small, intimate weddings have officially won my heart. This recent Gunflint Trail wedding was no exception. Set at the lovely Poplar Haus, officiated by the brides sister, and with only the couple’s closest family and friends in attendance…there was nothing but love in this couple’s big day. Love and a really beautiful setting….

I was so happy I was able to coordinate with these two for a maternity shoot while I was back in MN! People honestly don’t come any sweeter, and their love and excitement for their little one on the way was so fun to capture. With these two as parents, she’s going to be one blessed babe!

This engagement session was taken right as the monsoons were starting to make their appearance here in northern AZ. I feared we might get rained out but luckily the storms held off and the monsoon conditions created the best light for this session though! We got all the lighting in one session….dark and moody, to light and hazy, and then finally bright and pure magic. There was a price to pay for this light though and it was my makeup melting off my face and onto the back of my camera. :)

It would make sense that it hadn’t rained for 100 days….and then the moisture decided to make an appearance for this lovely couple’s day. Luckily it cleared just in time to still have the gorgeous rooftop reception. And the sky that was left after the rain was pure magic.

t + t engagement

This bride to-be texted me prior to their session to warn me that they weren’t photogenic….at all. The second I saw them pull up, I new she had lied. ;) These two were so fun and interactive, they were a blast to work with. Combine that with a perfect country backdrop….I’m in love with the results.

We unfortunately had crazy to winds to contend with on this sweet couple’s big day…..welcome to spring in the southwest. We made it work though, and I’m so happy with the way the photos turned out! And on a side-note, can we all take a second to appreciate how photogenic the bride’s horse is!?! I mean come on….

Not only are these two of the nicest people ever….they’re seriously gorgeous together. Even their dogs are photogenic. Which brings up my next point, I’m thinking about a new dog policy with my shoots…..you have to have them. If you don’t own a dog, one will be provided. :)

We were supposed to have clear weather until night, but of course as soon as I rolled into to Tucson….it started raining. I love the look of the desert when it rains, but it isn’t exactly ideal for an engagement session. We waited it out a bit and luckily it lightened up just enough to squeeze the session in. The clouds…the soft colors….the cactus….I’m so glad it all came together for this couple!
