Theme weddings can sometimes be tricky….if the theme isn’t uniform throughout the wedding, it can come off as just confusing, and a little all over the place. Well this roaring 20’s themed wedding was perfectly executed, down to every detail….even on the guests. It made for a beautifully different wedding that was so fun for me to photograph!

I’ve been lucky to have multiple backyard weddings this year that have proven you don’t necessarily need a big, fancy venue to have a beautiful day. This was definitely the case for this wedding….it was low key, simple, and oh so lovely. Doesn’t hurt that the bride and groom were a ridiculously striking couple too. :)

Fall is a tricky time for weddings in northern Minnesota. It’s so hard to time when the leaves are going to change and when the weather is going to turn nasty. This couple timed it perfect though, and it made for such a lovely wedding day.

When Jess first described to me the plans for her simple, boho backyard wedding, my first thought naturally was….are we the same person? Turns out we’re not, but man do we have similar taste. This gorgeous wedding goes to show that you’d don’t need anything extravagant to make for a beautiful day. The wedding was small, flawless and so filled with love. Definitely one of my favorites to date.

It didn’t take more than the bride telling me her wedding was going to have a french-country chic vibe and I was sold. These two were so lovely to work with and the Van Dickson Ranch provided such a beautiful backdrop for their special day.

If rain on a wedding day is good luck….this couple is going to be the luckiest couple ever. It seriously never…stopped…raining. And of course they had planned for the sweetest little ceremony and reception to be outside. Needless to say, that didn’t happen. But between using roofs, dodging drops, and a giant umbrella, we were still able to get some of my favorite wedding photos to date!

I’d been looking forward to shooting this wedding since meeting this adorable couple at their engagement session this spring. Needless to say, it didn’t disappoint! It was a gorgeous rooftop ceremony at the historic Hassayampa hotel; and the weather cooperated just enough. It poured 30 minutes after the ceremony…..we got lucky. :)

Oh how I loved shooting this wedding. The day had the most beautiful boho vibe to it, and it didn’t hurt that the couple was so stinkin’ striking . Set in Duluth, we were able to shoot the bridal portraits on the rocky shore of Superior; and then the ceremony and reception took place in a gorgeous historic warehouse, that has been converted into a beautiful venue. As a photographer, it doesn’t get much better!

I swear this wedding was designed with a photographer in mind. There were so many sentimental details and personal touches. From the hand-me-down pearls, the wedding dress worn by both the bride’s mother and grandmother, the wedding arch the couple made out of horse shoes (both are farriers), and the buckskin dress with beads passed down the generations. Everything had a story….and so much love.

First and foremost, I gotta say how much I love this venue. Trees…gorgeous shade….water…features that aren’t easy to find with an Arizona wedding venue. Then there was this couple. Amazing to work with and so much love between them. They put their wedding on the back burner for 10 years….but it was definitely worth the wait.
